coming stock with the single speed is ideal, especially if you ride it on a lot of DJs, rear derailers blow out left and right. nice price too.
would this be an ideal bike for riding whistler, trails like aline dirt merchant and Freight train?, im wanting to save for a cheaper bike for places like whistler and this looks like a good bike, im not bothered by single speed as that is what i have always ridden, and my legs are used to it
my friend bought one of these and despised the geometry. i thought he was just being picky, but my other friend and i rode it and agreed that it felt really unbalanced in the air. sweet looking bike with a good price though. (i would like to see it with a bent toptube for more standover, imo).
yea it would be interesting in future models too see kona do something like the norco 4x and make a slight bend in the toptube,i spose that could be something to change the model when evryone gets on kona's case for not doing enough changes
actully joaopini i dissagree if i had the cash for that bike i would ride it, plus its better then any of the bikes in ur photos
i dont have my bike in my fotos, i ride a blkmrkt with 11,8kg, not a full, but almost everything is heavy in this kona....It would be a lot better to buy a frame (this or another good full) and build a reall bike with light things. I was just saying that I wouldnt buy this bike, because if so Id need to change almost everything to be satisfied with it...

"Will be spec'ed with a halflink chain - Yaban 918"
Why the hell does this bike need a halflink?
To be honest, it really does seem that the older model was better equipped.

hmm, is th older model, better equiped, and still suck really bad... If it ws my bike I would change almost every component, then sell the frame and get something better.......haha
Big mistake not having the capability to run gears, my friend wanted to buy the kona bass for his all round bike he cant do that without gears.
well even so they still put an ss hub on... why not a regular hub with ss kit?? be better is someone wants to get gears
cr33py, in order to put gears on this bike, you'd have to get a drive side dropout with a derailleur hanger, and then swap out the rear hub for a cassette-style one. Not that easy if you ask me.
well if u had all the stuff it would take like 1 or 2h? cuz my friend Built his bike from scrach and i watch him do most of it.. like it cant be that bad or can it?
Well you have to consider that you'd also have to install a cassette, derailleur, shifter, cable and housing, chainguide (including taking off the bb), as well as a new chain, the labor required becomes a little bit more intensive.
you get an extra set of drop out pads with derailleur hanger if you buy the bike frame only, so that really doesn't matter... don't know about if u buy it ready though...

They take off all the Raceface kit and then charge more? Last years spec seemed better. Well the shock is nicer this year... but still....
old spec is better (Fox 5.0 Air -> Marzocchi Roco Air TST R , Race Face -> FSA & Kona, Hayes Stroke Trail ->Shimano M575, $2299 in 2008 - > $2799 in 2010 ) PS: Sun EQ 2.9SL is to cheap rim for that bike (Mavic 721 or MTX is better) PS2: http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/3742690/ - should look like my Bass

Guys its meant to be a slopestyle/jump bike... thusly single speed is better.
Dont complain cause a SS/ jump bike doesnt have gears, if you want a bike with gears you wouldnt want this anyway.

i run mine geared and single speed, takes me like 25 mins to change it over. no drama. two bikes in one. i love it. awesome trail bike, super fast aand real whippy. then awesome on the djs. what more could we ask for.

I'm happy with this bike a great cross-over for hardtail riders like myself. I wasgonna et the NORCO empire 5. But this is more suited to my styles of riding, simple & sweet good job KONA!!!

its awesome, no doubt. but.........the colour scheme is exactly the same as my banshee scream that i spent ages bulding and getting the colours right. and now theres a factory bike that, from a distance, looks identical to mine, witch sucks. still, its a nice bike, but the 08 had way nicer parts.

Sorry for the stupid question, but can someone explain how the built in chain tension adjuster works?

first the geo is sweet.
second the bike looks amazing
