2010 Norco Fluid 1
by spoiledgoods

The Fluid series makes up the majority of Norco's all mountain bikes. This series of bikes caters to everything from the base level of dual suspension XC bikes, right up to competition level of bikes, including full carbon frames. The bike in the Fluid series that we chose to look at was the Fluid 1.
The Fluid 1 bike caters to a large grouping of riders, so let's take a look...
The Fluid 1 bike caters to a large grouping of riders, so let's take a look...
Designed around going up, down, across, and through, the Fluid series is truly an All Mountain inspired bike. The frame has been redesigned using an adjustable linkage, hydro-formed tubing, and some additional changes that will make most riders happy to be saddled to one in the woods.
The new Fluid features adjustable travel from 116mm to 143mm. This adjustment makes the Fluid versatile for the climbs and the long descents you'll find out in the woods. Stronger, stiffer hardware was used on all the junctions, ensuring whatever alterations you do to the component side of the bike will not bring any surprises. What I'm trying to say is that Norco took the time, sorted the frame to last and take all the pedaling you can throw at it. And with FIVE available sizes, they should have a Fluid to fit everyone.
A small frame alteration of a 34.9 seat tube now allows for the use of a 30.9mm seat post. That means you can run an adjustable seat post on the Fluid now. Equipped with air suspension front and back for weight savings and tuneability, as well as a slightly more aggressive component build means you can take this bike anywhere in the woods.
The Fluid 1 should set you back $3565 CDN msrp in stores and it weighs in at approximately 28 lbs. The Fluid 1 would be perfect for anyone in the market for a great all around cross country bike and still offers a great price point and weight.

Looks like a good bike, I hate the colors though, looks like my GF's Giant Rincon.......Hope they offer some choices.
ya if it werent for the components the frame looks like its from a department store with the colors and paint scheme
its got some nice kit on it but im not too sure about the overall package, and ie the paintjob looks cheap, especially on the rear triangle. sorry for bein a bit negative

i've found a lot of the price comparison's on bikes don't match up with what it says on the websites, ie most of the kona's are priced wrong in the reviews
like most companies Norco is spec'ing bikes in reaction to a global recession. it is "proff" that norco is actively attending to the needs of consumers during economic inconsitancies (sp).
What's the correct travel? The text shows 116-143mm, but the comparison table with the '09 shows a 127-152mm frame.
Working on my second Fluid, first was a 2006 Fluid two, great bike at the end of the season got an offer that I couldn't refuse so I purchased a Fluid One. Still running it. Did a few minor upgrades, but I can't complain. Great for New England style riding and still light enough to race X/C.
Price reflects this though. NOrco is trying to give the market competitively priced bikes. Last year the DH Team was $7200 and this year it is closer to $5500 - yes at the cost of a lower spec. Same idea here.
Let me rephrase...I believe that the fluid One from last year is a superior build and part spec to this years version. In that, I view this years' model as a serious downgrade from last years version

You're right. Typo. Corrected now. Should be Raceface Deus XC as in http://www.raceface.com/components/cranks/2/
why not have a high spec bike as long as there are low spec bikes made by the manafacture, if the consumer still has big
bucks and wants a good bike whithout having to mod it, why not sell one?

I like the bike but its just not my type of specs... Just dont like the top tube and the chin stay but other then that it is aa very very solid bike...
My first thought was like DarkStar's: this rig looks just like an old Rincon SE. And that is NOT a compliment. Bummer. I like Norco but I think they've been out to lunch during the latest color palette power point slideshow (or whatever it is that informs them of the new colors for the upcoming year.) Maybe they should send someone to Wisconsin to spy at Trek...
o agree. I own a fluid LT 3 08 version. ITs the Emerald Green color. I love the thing and its awesome color. Its vibrant and unique. Although ive built the thing fromt he ground up. choosing part-for0part what i wanted, its an awesome machine. IT seems like both rocky mountain and norco have been slacking. Theyre old color schemes were great but the latest versions are terrible. Their marketing and design departments should be fired. Hire my damn girlfriend for both divisions, shes got all the right ideas, in tune with fashion and riding. I work and deal with a shop that primarily sells rocky and norco, so that's why i focused on them. So yeah, sell frame only to people and let them decide their own components. I can tell you that this thing rides wonderfilly. She loves to turn, loves to drop, loves to jump, and loves to pedal.
norco's made another poor choice specing the #1 with cheaper parts.
They should spec the #2or #3 with that choice. I have a 08 fluid 1,norco spec it with an XTR derailleur(carbon) then a crap headset, tires, seat, and LX rotors on a $4000 bike. There a lot choices when your are spending that kind of money.

suprised no one has said it looks like a kona but with a swoopy tube. or am i missing somethingh lol.
The thing you are missing is the placement of the rear pivot (chainstay vs seatstay). That, and only that, is what makes it different than a Kona...But that is a HUGE difference
Norco this year also has an se edition which is more in line with the 2009 Fluid one. Xt/Xtr, FOX 32 FRLC FIT 150 mm, avid elixer carbon, Race Face Deuce XC crank, etc... Pricing will also be in line with this years one. There are several different models that norco is doing this with. Oh ya, it's also got a killer black paint job.
