Brandon Semenuk and JBL - Custom bike, Custom Stereo
by spoiledgoods
Posted: Jul 21, 2009
We recently got the inside word that JBL was doing a custom stereo install for one of their Premier riders, Brandon Semenuk. Brandon has been killing it lately with 2 back to back wins. Brandon has shown a lot of companies and watchful eyes that with enough drive, and determination you can achieve whatever you want. A few years ago Brandon was just another rider coming out of the woodwork of Whistler, now he's the biggest name in Slopestyle.
Brandon recently showed us his Slopestyle bike for 2009, oh and his sick car!

As stated Brandon Semenuk has been shredding it up. Back to back wins, a guaranteed spot in both Crankworx events, and a never ending rampage of sick tricks puts Brandon in the top 3 Slopestyle riders in the world for sure. Representing Whistler, British Columbia, Brandon has signed with such big names as Trek, SRAM, and even JBL! That's right, this guy even has his own stereo sponsor, and we recently caught up to him to see what was going down.
We met up with Brandon at Soundwaves, a car audio store in Langley, British Columbia, getting his stereo done. Ambrose Winegart got the filming deal, so with a bit of encouragement from him we got to sit in for filming day 1. Not only did we get to see Brandon's brand new 2009 Subaru Impreza STi, but we got to see how beat Brandon's slopestyle bike has gotten after all those winning runs, and crashes.
Here's a quick component breakdown, as Brandon did not have time to sit down for a full fledged video.
Brandon's been rocking a Hydraulic gyro for a while now, and had a few words of wisdom on it. As shown he's running hydraulic brakes, but Brandon mentioned that he "had tried it with old, just plain housing, but it flexed and expanded to much." He later moved to Goodridge housing, which is braided brake line, and has since had a much better experience with it. His brake felt solid, grabbed hard, and didn't fade through the stroke.
Greg "Biggs" from JBL got flown up all the way to Canada to come do Brandon's stereo installation. Greg has been a JBL guy for a while now, and travels around the world to different events to support the brand. Greg was stoked to meet Brandon, and Brandon seemed stoked to get his car worked on.
After a couple minor delays Brandon pulled his Subaru Impreza STi into the bay to start work. Ambrose got some filming started, Greg was working on plans for the stereo, and figuring out how everything was going to work, and the crew at Soundwaves quietly sat around and thanked us for taking up all their shop time on a Monday.
After filming the intro, Ambrose filmed some footage of the stereo equipment that would be installed, and started with some footage of the car. Brandon's Impreza was extremely dirty, so the first step before anything gets done is Brandon will have to wash his car.
In the near future you should see some more footage from Ambrose, and Greg, featuring Brandon's car, at Soundwaves in Langley. Until then, keep your homepage locked on Pinkbike.com!

Argyle and Pike lowers are exactly the same. Another way of putting is - they are pike uppers, with white pike lowers and argyle stickers.
Meh, who cares. Doesn't matter what forks Semenuk runs, he's still an amazing rider! I love it how he's soo relaxed in interviews and his riding, but super focused.

well so shit i new they were the same, just funny how sram is pushing that they all ride argyles when they really run pikes
well if they're trying to advertise argyles, why is he running a normal pike on his hardtail then huh?
