Dylan Dean is trying to make a big splash in a small pond with the recent introduction of Dean Optics. Dylan Dean has recently expanded his industry ties by starting Dean Optics, and creating the Trooper Goggle.

The Trooper goggle is advertised to "combine panoramic peripheral vision, with form fitting plush foam, stealth lines, and angular detailing". In case you don't understand any of those "man sized" words, it basically boils down to a goggle that provides superior vision, comfortable foam, and a robust design. The goggle industry is tied up tight when it comes to good designs and big companies, so Dylan is fighting a head wind, but with a rider following consisting of Justin Leov, Sabrina Jonnier, Ryan Condrashoff, TJ Sharp, along with others, Dylan has enough riders to not only represent his company, but he's getting input from professional riders, which means more than anything.
The Trooper goggle is designed for Mountain Bikers, so it features a flexible polyurethane frame, with an anti-fog lens for those cold mornings, or wet evenings. Triple layered foam with moisture-wicking fleece means your goggles will feel comfortable, but keep the sweat off your face. The lens is polycarbonate, and features a scratch-resistant finish. I'm not going to judge them until there's a nice unbiased review on them. To me all of these new products on the Pinkbike front-page are about as useful as an advertisement in a magazine.

I dont see anything about these that will be any different from others on the market. Give me a lens that will change from dark to clear. SO I can ride with them in the morning when the suns out, then as the sun goes down the lens will change to clear. until that comes out im fine riding the ones I have now. My snowboarding goggles. they work just fine.
And I'll bet your lenses for those boarding goggles cost about as much as these goggles outright. Also, boarding lenses won't last long riding Post Canyon silt in the summertime. Been there, done that...
Companies do make goggles with lens that change with the sunlight. They are photochromic lenses, a couple companies have em.
So far 2 years at post and there still good.. I never clean them on the mountain with a cloth. always water.. and they look better then the all blue..lol..
Photochromic lenses are good but can be dangerous. They're fine if you're only riding in the alpine or any spot where you won't be entering forest or dark areas. The lenses go from light to dark in about 10 seconds but take a few minutes to lighten back up. If you're riding in and out of trees, they'll go really dark on you but won't have time to lighten back up.
The goggles above look like budget, which they are, so there's nothing wrong with that. There's nothing special about them either.

not as good as oakley. other companys cant compete with the High definition optics and X,Y,Z technology...
ya oakley - got O-frame fire iridium - scratches super easily and has no antifog for nearly 50 pounds! Crowbars might be ok but for that price everything is ok. Even scott 40 goggles for 10 pounds offer better field of view than O frame. Oakley is a hype...
il stick with my oakleys..spys are garbage they so poorly built the megento II ive tryed out (the top of the line spys) still had excese plastic thats suposed to be cut off after injection molding.il take these over any spys..
What this article lack BIG TIME is the explanation of who is Dylan Dean.The guy is a well known character amongst pros and people related to DH racing industry.
From my understanding he's done a lot for this industry and wether or not his goggle are NICE looking is irrelevant to me.Im sure they get the job done and thats what natters to me.Next time I need new goggles ( which should be somewhere around August like every year)I will definitely buy a pair and support his business rather than a big ass corporation such as Oakley.

It's nice to see a goggle that is designed around the optics and function rather than a flashy looking frame. That's the most important part, the rest is just fashion.
Ah, that old Pink Bike ignorance factor. It took a lot of control not to remove half of the comments above. How can you judge a product without having ever used it? You can't. You can, however, show a complete lack of thought and comment on what you know from two pictures and two paragraphs. Way to research your products, kids!!
I've known Jeremiah for years, and can tell you he has his heart and soul into this sport and this industry, and can guarantee he has done many long hours of research, testing, redesigning, retesting, etc. until this was the best it could be and then came to market.
I'd buy and wear them without any hesitation whatsoever.

Imo, the article does leave a lot to be desired. I have been looking forward to the release of these goggles though and i will be making a visit to my LBS when they become available in the UK.
haha.. these comments are funny... especially from those who have no clue what they're talkin about! ;-) but don't worry, i can take the criticism. just funny how many expect to have some etremely high end goggle w/ all the features/functions, but still be able to afford them. I'm no re-inventing the wheel here.. just offering something new to choose from.

yep,they're the same. we both use the same vendor overseas (who's design it is actually belongs to) however since we're focusing on different markets, they were cool w/ it.
Oh sick. It's a pretty bitchin' design. I would buy it. It would look cool with some sort of graphics or something too.

Can't wait to see the new colors and strap designs! Even if these goggles were as expensive as Oakley's I would still rather buy them than be a label whore!
I like the design, seems like they would work well. My only concern would be the frame being a bit large for people with smaller helmets like Bells. Looks sick on a remedy though, good luck
they are actually a smaller frame... so no problem fitting into any helmets that i've found. yet they still offer great peripherial vision
I know you said you have tried them in different helmets but what about troy lee's because i know a lot of goggles dont fit in my troy lee and it really makes me angry haha

if the mount is still in the lens, you should be able to pop them in again. a lot of lenses from a variety of brands are like this... just gott push HARD.
speaking of lenses, i've got another supplier herein the states that i'm going to be using as well, to add more selection & better material.
i've also just recieved some sample snow (dual) lenses... so should be cool to see how they work out!

@ pdxseth: I forgot what they are called but at my MX shop they have those lenses that chnge from clear to tint. They were only like $50-$70 too.

Hell, It's your money do what you want.. but I don't see the need to bag on a company straight out of the gate. It's rider owned.. witch means he's one of us. If we have more of "us" in the industry than the sport will grow and prosper. Why? Because rider owned companies have a vested interest in the sport beyond their bottom line. (i.e. better trails, support for local trail organizations, support for local events etc. etc.)

Im not even going to bother reading all these comments, but at the end of the day the only relevant comment was made in the actual article, and thats that the goggle market is basically sewn up with VERY big manufacturers... Personally i think theyre ugly.
now if you would have taken the time to read the comments...you would have realised we already went over that, and its already been said that these aren't made for style whores, or brand buyers, these are for ppl who want a nice goggle that functions good and wont break the bank, plus your supporting a fellow rider who is making a big effort to better our sport
