Interbike Randoms - Unique items from Inside

Once you attend the Interbike show you start to appreciate these big name companies even further. You see a fair amount of "cork board" booth setups that feature some lame products, simply hanging off the wall in no organized fashion. However, when you see a booth that features something unique you're more drawn to check out what it's all about. Usually these unique looking booths will feature a unique product, so here is a small batch of photos of products that I thought were cool from Interbike 2009 Indoor Demo.

CamelBak took the time to design and construct a waterfall display for their products. When I first walked into the show this display caught my eye. It featured chicken wire like material, with water trickling down the display. They lit it from above with some lights, to give the water some color, then displayed the CamelBak logo against it using a projector. They produced a really unique look and an eye catching display using some very simple technologies.
Avia had a sick setup! They took a Yeti 575 frame, and custom painted it. In conjunction with Troy Lee Designs, Avia designed this flashy graphic for on the Yeti.
SRAM usually has something cool to look at aside from new components, however they took it 1 step further this year. First off SRAM has taken their famous X-O component lineup, combined it with the Noir crank sets, and anodized the components into 5 different color schemes. You get Pink, Green, Yellow, Orange, and Red as options, so you shouldn't have an issue finding a color to fit your bike's setup.
Aside from the new color options from SRAM, they also had the full XX groupo on display.
SRAM had a Plexiglas display, so you could see inside it. Inside the display was a lizard! They even had a tarantula in the other display! It's pretty awesome to see SRAM thinking 'inside the box' and adding some flavor to their display.
After passing Ian Hylands doing some mid day work in the media room I ran into the WTB booth, where they had a unique saddle on display. The Downieville Classic is an event that is sponsored by WTB. It features a Downhill and an XC race, along with a festival to enjoy after the events. WTB had designed and manufactured a custom Silverado saddle to fall in line with this event. It was constructed out of a gold fabric, with dark brown trees on it. It's a really clean saddle, and looked great sitting in the WTB display.
Straitline had a neat little setup at the Indoor Demo. They had brought out a bunch of metal shavings, put them down on a light table, and put glass on top of it. It gave a unique under glow look to their products. They also had a cutaway of one of their pedals to show what exactly was going on inside. Looks simple, but very effective.
Straitline also managed to get in under the radar with these names.
Oakley has hit the nail on the head this year with their 'paint splatter' type graphics. I always found Oakley to have good graphics, and always seemed to be the trend setter when it comes to goggles. The two goggles that struck me were really nice looking were a blue and orange color scheme, and of course red and black. Red and black is a shoe in when it comes to color schemes, and the orange and blue goggles just look clean!
The next item I saw seemed like it could be used in all aspects of the sport, from BMX to Downhill riding. Toiga's Spider saddle has incorporated a pivotal design for 2010. They couldn't give me any information on it, however it appears to be a plastic construction with a comfort zone idea. Super light? I think you could say that. I think you will see this seat on a lot of bikes in the upcoming season.
Tioga Spyder Pivotal
Phil Wood is known in the industry as a boutique bike component manufacturer. Famous for his water proof lubes and high quality hubs, Phil Wood had a set of anodized gold components on display at the Interbike 2009 show that were awesome looking. It featured two hubs, and two bottom brackets that had been anodized in gold, cleanly on display in a Plexiglas display. Good stuff Phil!
Syncros components came out to the show and had a few new items on display. The one that caught my eye was the new Low Ball stem. The Low Ball stem offers two reach options, 42mm and 47mm, and it is a true zero rise stem. Designed around the RockShox Boxxer mounting pattern this stem will fit on Fox 40 forks as well. It's forged and CNC'd to achieve a minimalist weight at 156 grams.
All together Interbike 2009 went well, however as usual it lays a late nights, early morning beating on everyone media related. At the end of the event I felt like a walking, talking (kinda) zombie, so it's good to be back home. Stay tuned at Pinkbike.com for HD videos coming your way, featuring some great products for 2010.

sram is too good
It's all about setting the mood...with so many beautiful components on display you know it's time to turn the lights down low and put on some Barry White...Ohhhh yeah.
I walked by the guy sleeping and laughed my ass off. It was at like 11 in the morning on the first day of the show and this dude was out. Hilarious!
that was so funny, but by friday half the show was asleep. maybe vagas was to much for him. light weight
There was a couple of guys in the asian section taking naps. Kinda feel sorry for those guys with their dumb blinky light stuff that no one is really concerned about but w/e. Their money.
the crap usually out weights the cool stuff in shows like interbike. next year eurobike here I come.
No doubt Eurobike would be the bomb. All those topless ladies with logos airbrushed on makes my pants smaller. Nice call fullbug!

You are not the only one. I have a blue Chris King headset and bottom bracket on my bike, I'd love a blue anodized SRAM X.0 group. I had to go with Pink instead.
