Anodization is coming back and it's not all purple!
Back in the days of spandex and skin suits anodization was the thing, but it was slowly fazed out just like the other two items. Recently we have been seeing more and more anodization coming back into the market, and it's actually refreshing to see, especially as it's not all purple! Companies are mixing it up with some crazy colors, and some neat designs, while still providing a shout out to those days that only some of us remember. Race Face recently launched their anodized lineup in a plethora of colors, 7 to be exact, and all of them are separately unique looking.

Race Face recently launched their new Atlas Freeride handlebar, and it's a step in the right direction. There seems to be a trend for bright colors, and wide bars going around the industry. I see a lot of riders nowadays rocking 30" bars, with custom helmet colors, and overly decalled bikes. Race Face has recently combined the two 'fads' into one swanky new handlebar. Pinkbike, I give you the Race Face Atlas Freeride bar.
Race Face claims the Atlas Freeride bar is designed with a mind set driven towards gravity. This means low rise, wide width, and light. The Atlas Freeride bar is a half inch riser bar, that measures a whopping 785mm wide, or 31 inches! The Atlas Freeride Bar has been manufactured out of Air Alloy material, that features an internal taper that not only increases strength, but keeps the overall weight down.
The Atlas Freeride bar is a half inch rise bar, so it keeps the stack height as low as possible. Race Face has designed and manufactured the Atlas Freeride bar around a 9 degree rearward sweep, and 4 degrees upward. Race Face has also done some good graphic work with their topographical map decal. This decal is totally one of a kind, and showcases one of the North Shore's more known riding areas on Mount Fromme.
The Atlas Freeride carries a Canadian MSRP price of $105, which is in the same price point as most other aftermarket bars. It's offered in 7 different color schemes, Agent Orange (Shown), Nurple Purple, Rum Red (Shown), Tooth Blue, Tom Green, Gold Member, and Bad Ass Black.
You should be able to get ahold of Race Face through your local shop, but if not you can find a dealer here.

these look awesome!!
These bars are beggin' for a new Atlas stem with the same colours to go with them. Lookin' pretty schwank.
yeah i just wanted to point out how rash bisk was being, diabolus's are more than good enough for 99% of us.
plus the difference is like 20 or 30 grams.

Suicidedownhiller,
Thats the "MSRP" cost, and sorry man, but thats how much high performance bars run around here. Compare them to Chromag, same cost.

I just got some Nuke Proof Bars which are pretty much exactly the same thing except they are 750 mm wide for only £42.99. Thats a quality product for very little money!
$105 CAD is about £56. So for an extra £13 you get a much wider bar. Not too much more in price. And, the £56 is msrp rather than a lower deal price that you may get at your local bike shop.
Radek, you guys said the same about the new dorado's msrp but the fork is already on sale at CRC for 2700€ which was roughly its msrp.
i touched them and saw them last sunday omg there amazing i wanted them soo bad they had all of them on display
328g. It shows it on the scales in the last photo. Real nice bars, would go nice with a set of atlas cranks.
Chromag! I love those bars (own 2). They're about the same price as the Atlas, but I rather support the smaller guys and their outstanding customer service. Oh yeah, they're also light. I cut mine down to 28in and 280gms!

the ones shown are orange by the way , does anybody know when they are avalable in the uk , i need some !!
Guys, no matter what anyone tells you... purply bits on your bike is ghey and you'll regret it when you reach puberty. In fact, you'll be embarrassed at yourself.
Designed with input from, and tested by Team Maxxis-Rocky Mountain. 3 WC victories so far by Sab Jo.
yeah, because you totally need a pro riders input to design a bar. do you think this is f*cking rocket science?
sabrina jonnier wouldn't know if her bar was made out of brass plumbing pipe.

All of this is just crap, so I think I am going to jump on my bike and go out for a ride in my Sunnline V1 mediocre and colourless bars (I am sure nobody will ever notice me).
I've just come back and it's been really nice out there. I like to freeride in the dark, by the University.
Anodization never phased (Fazed? What!?) out, we've all probably got more anodized parts on our bikes than powdercoated or painted ones. They're mostly just black and non-dyed now.
What did get a somewhat out of fashion for a while were all the gay purple, blue and pink dyed parts. I guess now we can go back to laughing at the 14 year olds sporting those again.

obviously you ride like a friggin sissy or you wouldn't be trying to save weight on the most important safety product your bike has. whatever, i guess you couldn't get any dumber if you smoked your head off the ground after breaking your bar anyway.
carry on seraptbptbpp pt tbbp.
Thats a fart noise on the end of your name if you couldn't figure it out.

A "P" and an "H" together are pronounced like an "F," for future reference. They must have taught that to the rest of the kids after you failed out of the 3rd grade.
just like baggy jeans and pants, they arrrrrrrrrrre BaCk! I still think the color must go with the frame;otherwise it will become a laughingstock.

Lol. Anodization is back!
Which is another way of saying 'all the bike gear companies are afraid of the global recession so instead of introducing real innovations, they are just doing simple color changes'.
viva la BS!
$105 too FTW!
A couple of years back I got a 30.8mm 3 inch rise bar for my bike direct from a factory. It's just as good as any of the other brands (that factory makes for tons of mainstream companies) and it's stiff as hell. They gave it to me for free, but he told me that if I wanted a second one (which I might do this summer for my other bike), I could drop by the factory and get one for $3 US. It's not particularly light, but...
$105 bucks? hrmph. Realistically, I can see these things going for 30-40 bucks with decent profit margins all around and covering real costs such as warranties, marketing and shipping... $105 is just greedy.
*shrug*

Race Face sucks, they've always sucked. they're shits too expensive and its no better than anything else. Plus, its designed by some nerd who doesn't give a shit about bikes and the company's owned by a douchebag who might as well be a f*cking insurance salesman.
they've never listened to their employees (who actually do ride bikes) and only produce what is the most obvious fad which used to be shit carbon cranks while they should have been making quality freeride products, and the newest fad is wide colourful bars.
sound about right to anybody who knows what the hells up?
by the way. purple bars look f*cking gay

Cut 'em to 750 and they'll be under 300g. Same as a Chromag. Poor bigtard. Looks like he needs his meds again. Keep it up Race Face! You guys are crankin' out the best, strongest, lightest shit out there right now!
