@ audeo03 It is NOT for taping ducts. Real "Duct Tape" for duct work is a metal foil tape with an adhesive backing. "Duck", "Duct", "racer", "gun", or "tank" tape are all random names and a total misconception when it comes to duct work. The glue on it will dry out after about a year and leave air gaps in the ducting. You can even read the wiki on it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duct_tape . 3M™ Aluminum Foil Tape 425 is the REAL duct tape.

hill will almost certainly stop wearing a neck brace now. thats what neck braces do they put the pressure on your shoulder instead of your neck. If he wasn't wearing one he wouldn't have had such a bad injury on his shoulder

To correct everyone... The actual tape has always been called Duct tape. That is the actual name.

The name "duck tape" in which the Brits are using, is actually a nickname for the tape. The nickname came about when the tape was used on ammo cases to keep water out. Since the tape was waterproof people called it duck tape. So in reality... the Brits are just calling it something that the Americans did during the war. They don't know any better in this case because they got that nickname from us to begin with. Real name is duct tape. It's nothing to debate on. 2sam hopkins: i don't know what has neck brace to do with injury of a shoulder??? neck brace is designed to transport/absorb impact energy through the chest/shoulders. you will end up with either crushed collar bones or dead. if you crash on shoulder neck bracet won't help you anyway. if you have look at most riders, they are like skinned rabbit. no muscles to hold bones together. no wonder they end-up badly whenever they crash. protection would help too. if you have look at most "immortals" they don't wear any protections. i don't crash often but when i crash it bloody hurts despite you wear protection. i don't understand people who don't wear anything. just to reply retarded comments, from sofa-riders, about crashing in advance. if you don't crash, you don't push it hard enough.

Sam's strategy always was keep bike light so he uses xc components. it quite doesn't matter what you have in fort will you wreck it anyway. i bought nice DT FR2350 rear wheel, bent axle and wrecked rim at first day in fort bill :o) maybe thick stainless steel rims would do in fort will, but weight about 10kg each ;-)

after reading all the comments and take that as a fact what Brendan said, then in my opinion i think he will not race at finals. Damaging your shoulder makes it so f*cking hard that even sam can't battle with that. I am one of the thousands who admire him and wishes the best recovery, but still this crash seems to be really devastator. Not to mention, that he didn't wear body armor (he never does), which could save him from the biggest pain. Oh, what can i say, all the comment can be wrong, coz i actually dont know a shit about that crash... I wouldn't be too harsh on the DT rims - they are softer for sure, but a soft rim is less susceptible to pinch flats and breaking, as it bends before it breaks. There has been more than one race where the DT riders at least make it to the finish line while the Mavic riders don't. Do you bend like a reed or stay solid like an oak? Two ways to skin a cat.

And I'm a Mavic fan.

Old DeeMax rims were good. I got good old yellow DeeMax on front wheel since 2002. I weight 100kg and rim has bent sidewalls, but always kept main structure straight. I also got DT FR2340 rims, same as DeeMax. Unfortunatelly, new DeeMax follows american way of life. Cheap rubbish for consumers society.

It's just a standard Boxxer with DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coating on the stantions.

Hope he's feeling better soon, the only reason my mum agreed to go is to watch him haha.

The DLC coating is to reduce friction. If it works better, who really cares if it doesn't "look" good. This is not a fashion show, it's professional racing.
