I was looking through shots from today on the site and I came across these ones from one of our users.

he is pinning it on the demo
by looking at these phots i can also conclude, other than the fact that he is pinning it, he is 1.3634 seconds faster on the demo than his Sunday.
I worked it out as 1.4764 faster but my calculations could be a bit out!

artifact: You can actually have a good idea of how hard someone is pinning it by a picture. eg. How far they are looking ahead and how much they are leaning into corners etc.
you can tell how fast someone is going, people say oh so pinned so fast, so why not slow? anyway im fed up of him winning even though he got jank this year, much prefer athertons, minaar, rennie, peaty.
from watching sam hill ride im sure you would fall down the track slower than he rides down it, he just needs to be more consistent in the world cup will 2009 be Sams year because he deserves it

well, u guys can give me all the negative props u want but i just think that sam hill on a demo is gonna take a while for me to get used to seeing. it just dosent look right, maybe if it were black it would look better

Sam Hill doesn't ride a stock demo, it's custom made for him, head angle, top tube length, seat tube angle, everything is custom made for him, just like his Iron Horse was a Med rear end and a Large front end. I heard that Sam wanted specialized to make the bike feel as close to his Sunday as posable.
I think he is riding a normal demo 8 frame right now actually, and his personal frame will come later. Could be wrong though.

they are on standard demo frames with their own bits. eg, vivid and obtanium springs. and that sam and brendon are in the process of designing their own angles for a custom bike for them and then they wil;l be making another one for the world champs in canberra specifically designed for that track.

how could his old iron horse be a medium rear end and large front end? the rear end doesn't change throughout the sizes.
don't listen to him, from what i've been told, he was running a medium seat tube with a longer top tube, essentialy it was a large with a lower stand over
i'm pretty sure he's on a custom geo demo 8, and he's getting an all new frame either later in the season, or for start of 2010 season, once theyve had time to get one sorted properly.
It's hard to tell from these pictures, but he's running a 1.5 headtube vs the standard Cobra headtube one would usually find on a Demo 8. So he's either running a demo 7 frame or a custom demo 8. I'm thinking the latter is true.
i just dont really see sam on a fu cking demo??? nothing against the bike... its a sick bike... but he belongs on like a santacruz V-10 or somethin??

@jmsxtreem the 3rd picture kind of shows it. it appears that he's running a 1.5 to 1 1/8 reducer headset rather than a standard 1 1/8 headset. Also, the headtube is slightly visible in this picture, but it's too hard to tell. previous pictures of what was allegedly Sam hill's bike more clearly showed a 1.5inch headtube.
So since I like specialized I am gonna take that as compliment. Personally couldn't make it much better gotta love the lifetime warranty!

its not the best bike in the world but at the end of the day sam hill would kick all of our butts what ever he rides stock or not !!!!!
i got one 7 mounths ago first year racing its not bad bike maybe it will sell better now i hope ????

Looks like one of the biggest bike companies has just bought its way to the top. Dont think I will be trading my sunday in just yet. Although I ride specialized as well, they are just no way cool as my horsey
Ya for 2009 the shifted some of their free ride/slope style sponsorship money to DH racers because DH is starting to become more and more popular and the slope style scene has hit a little bit of a plateau with the explosion of tricks. Though people always like to see someone just go ripping fast on a bike

i take it some of you guys slaggin the demo dont read magazines like mbuk and dirt....if you did you would have read that confirmed by memeber of specialized team that sam will work with them in developing a new wc standard dh bike over the next season. get your facts right before slaggin?

but than again if I was with Ironhorse for a gazzilion years I'd trade it up for specialized but maybe if his demo was the same colors as his sunday it wouldn't seem so strange.
There is nothing secret about this, they've been making it pretty obvious for about a month. Hopefully Specialized will be able to do what they did back in the day.

i think he looked way better/faster on the sunday...maybe it's just me but i dont like the new demo. in fact none of the new specialized bikes.they look chunky. but i am looking forward to the wc and see see him ridin on it
he should have stayed with Ironhorse, it just feels right... however I believe that being such a remarkable rider will get him to the top on any bike, gg

basically, all you mugs who are saying he shouldve stayed with ironhorse need to understand that you have to make a living. the company that pays better you go for, its that short, just because its a "nicer bike" doesnt mean your going to turn down a massive amount of money to ride for a smaller company.
The man has to make a living while he can. It's hard to make money in this game. And I wouldn't judge what Sam is riding by what we've already seen from the Demo 8. Look at when Valentino Rossi left Honda to go to Yamaha which was an inferior bike. He brought people from Honda with him and were told they could do whatever Rossi wanted with the bike. By the end of his first season with Yamaha he was world champ yet again. With Hill and Brendog riding, the new Demos that will be developed could be unbelievable bikes that surpass the Sunday.

Exactly. I don't think Sam would leave IH if the partnership with DW hadn't run it's course; and now big changes are in store for IH. It's going to be interesting to see what kind of bikes, if any, are in store for IH's 2009 line up.
Cammy67, DW link Iron Horse's will still be on sale in '09 as they were all devoloped during '08. They have bought the rights to develop Ellsworth's suspension technology during '09 so they can launch a full range of new bikes in 2010.
Yeah, you're right Gadmack. I was surprised the other day when I went to IH's website and saw that they are still selling DW bikes for 2009. I have an IH 7 point that I use for training and love it.(they don't make them for 2009). The Ellsworth news is interesting, we'll have to see what happens with that. Thanks for the info.

I think there about the same.... Specialized sells some crap bikes and so does IH but when they get more expensive.. they both become a better brand... And plus its not just the frame its the components and fork and rear shock that you get with the frame... just my opinion

demo's are way nicer than sundays and with his input on the bike's geometry, the bike will do leaps and bounds better than the crappy sunday... and quite frankly, ironhorse is an awful manufacturer compared the specialized.

I am amazed no-one has brought up Shaun Palmer. Perhaps you are all too young to know the history of your sport. Shaun Palmer was self-funded and blasted onto the scene on the new Intense M1. He almost won the World Champs (lost to Nico by a tiny fraction of a second). Shaun was the new DH poster boy and FAST! The next year he was offered lots of money to go to Specialized. He was not as fast as on the Intense. His season sucked. He went back to boardercross and motocross. Shall history repeat itself? I sure hope not.

So just to clarify something that has been pissing me off for a couple years now when someone says he is on codes or the new codes or he is back to codes Your getting really wrong. He has never been on a stock set of codes since he switched to Avid he first had a Set of Juicy 7's for a sort time then it was a Ultimate master cylinder (the thing hang on your bars) attached to a normal Juicy 7 caliper(the thing that clamps down on the disc to stop you) for the strength and stopping power. Then as soon as the code was in testing or a sort time after he ran a code caliper control by a Ultimate master cylinder and he has been on that ever since.
Well given the fact its a Demo frame and he is running a coil in the rear like most pro's it's probably in the high 30's like 38 pounds because the demo frame no matter what you do to it basically has two entirely useless pieces of linkage because it is 5mm away from being a single pivot because they placed the axle on the large outer linkage and the suspension on a small inner single pivot triangle and the only thing separating the two is a pivot between the axle and the inner triangle. Anyway back to the weight he also is running minions which isn't a bad tire, hell i got a stock pile of them at home but if you want to cut down on weight the place to do it is with tire choice a set of Highroller super-tackies will save nearly a pound and half in weight compared to the minions he is running.
