Day 1 of Urge Kenya with Fabien Barel has taken place, and he is on his way to Kenya. Fabian will be over in Kenya for the next while in order to get a race series going. Read on to find out more information about Urge Kenya.

Urge Kenya started today, so Fabien and his crew have taken off in the direction of Kenya. We received a couple of updates from them earlier today, so here's a quick update.

I don't think he did. Is there any way that it might be on private land? If that were the case then the KWS probably wouldn't know anything about it.

what is curious is that when a friend of mine called the kenya wildlife service about the race the warden didnt know anything about it and didnt sound so keen to allow an event up in the alpine habitat. odd too that these guys have not bothered to involve anyone from the mountain bike community here in kenya, most of whom would be more than keen to participate and contribute toward the race. they might also advise the organizers about some better local community based aid projects.

I think this is great!!! they are giving exposure to a country that nobody relates with mountain bikes. I am sure that they would not fly in 10 riders from all around the world if they did not have permits to do it.
Also I don't think they could put together all the logistics for and event like this with out the help of local people. I have been to events like Sea Otter Classic, Cranxwork and Interbike and they do not hand invitations for everybody to go help. You have to be really involve in the bicycle community to know who to talk.
